Translate

Two federal enforcement officers and three others were remanded today over allegations that they solicited and received about RM1 million in bribes to protect foreign workers from enforcement action.

The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) said the suspects comprised three men and two women, between their 40s and 60s, who were arrested in operations in Selangor and Johor between 10am and 4pm yesterday.

The other three are agents involved in foreign worker matters.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspects allegedly conspired to commit the offences between 2018 and 2025, during which 44 online money transfers amounting to about RM1 million were purportedly made.

The suspects were remanded for five days until Nov 1 after magistrate Dhilip Nair granted MACC’s application at the Johor Bahru sessions court today.

Johor MACC director Hazrul Shazreen confirmed the arrests and said the case is being investigated under Sections 16(a)(B) and 16(b)(B) of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Act 2009.
