Mikey Madison has revealed her relationships have become 'more complicated' since she won an Oscar, as she reflected on how those close to her have changed in a new interview.

The star, 27, is set to receive the Film Actress prize at the Harper's Bazaar Women of the Year Awards on Thursday, and ahead of the honour, she spoke to Harper's Bazaar UK about her life-changing year.

Mikey won Best Actress in 2025 for her performance in Anora, and this year she starred in Aaron Sorkin's film The Social Reckoning.

The star said that she's learned to spot when those closest to her 'want something,' instead of a genuine friendship, and said she can 'smell it a mile away.'

She said: 'I do feel like there's always a voice in the back of my head, like, ''Does someone want something?''

'But then you want to believe that's not true, and that what someone wants is just connection or friendship. And sometimes I also can just smell it from a mile away.'

Mikey added that she has become protective of other young actresses in the entertainment industry, saying: 'When I see younger actresses, even people I don't know, I just have this urge to reach out and protect…

'[Fame can be such a] singular, strange experience… It's nice when you feel there is some kind of camaraderie, as it can feel quite isolating at times.'

Having appeared in the hard-hitting film The Social Reckoning, Mikey said she wants to continue to 'take risks' as an actor.

She added: 'I want to continue to take risks as an actor, doing interesting things and stretching myself creatively. I want to entertain people and make things that are meaningful.'

The Social Reckoning was released last month, and made headlines with its take on a shocking exposé about Facebook's dark past.

The synopsis for the new American legal thriller read: 'A companion piece to the hit film The Social Network, Sorkin's original screenplay is based on the events that gave rise to the Wall Street Journal's shocking exposé The Facebook Files.

'The film is inspired by the true story of how Frances Haugen (Madison), a young Facebook engineer, enlists the help of Jeff Horwitz (White), a Wall Street Journal reporter, to go on a dangerous journey that ends up blowing the whistle on the social network's most guarded secrets.'

The trailer saw Jeremy Strong step into his role of Mark Zuckerberg for the first time, replacing Jessie Eisenberg, who played him in The Social Network.

In the trailer, Frances met with the reporter Jeff as she tells him she wants to 'help Facebook, not hurt it'.

Then in a courtroom, we see Jeremy step into the role of Mark as he remains stony faced until he shouts: 'Enough. People around here understand that when I say no it is the end of the debate.'

Aaron Sorkin has returned to the franchise as both the writer and director after winning the Academy Award for the best adapted screenplay for The Social Network.

When the trailer premiered at CinemaCon earlier this year, Aaron explained why he needed to make a sequel to the 2010 drama.

'There isn't a life that Facebook's algorithm hasn't touched, and that influence has shaped everything. So it's time to say more,' he said.
