The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) has published the 2027 List of Prohibited Substances and Methods, which was approved by its Executive Committee (ExCo) at its meeting in Belgrade on September 11, 2026 and will come into effect on January 1, 2027.
The List is one of eight International Standards mandatory for all signatories of the World Anti-Doping Code, designating substances and methods banned in- and out-of-competition, as well as those prohibited in particular sports.
It covers nine classes of prohibited substances, from anabolic agents and peptide hormones to stimulants, narcotics, cannabinoids and glucocorticoids, alongside three categories of prohibited methods, including blood manipulation and gene and cell doping. Beta-blockers remain banned in select sports such as archery, golf and shooting.
Athletes, coaches and support personnel have been urged to familiarise themselves with the updated List well ahead of its effective date.
