Marcos: Work progress on Metro subway at 60%
MANILA, Philippines — The Metro Manila Subway Project (MMSP) is almost 60-percent complete, President Marcos said on Wednesday at the groundbreaking for the subway’s Ninoy Aquino International Airport (Naia) Terminal 3 station in Pasay City.
Work on the Naia Terminal 3 station, which will be located beneath the open parking area, is expected to start in October.
The subway project will link Naia, the country’s main gateway and its busiest airport, to an urban mass transport system. It is projected to accommodate around 70,000 passengers daily by 2035 and 74,000 by 2045.

Marcos said that 100 percent of the station-area right-of-way has already been secured, allowing construction to move forward.
The P488.48-billion MMSP, financed through loans from the Japan International Cooperation Agency, is part of ongoing efforts to modernize the country’s railway system, improve connectivity across Metro Manila and cut travel time for commuters. —Dexter Cabalza
