Dungeon Crawler Carl: The Royal Court Officially Releases Next Month

With extensive experience playing video games, he covers all forms of gaming content at Screen Rant, from breaking news to the latest fan theories. Most-played games range from Clair Obscur to Civ to Elden Ring to Halo 2 and beyond.

Dungeon Crawler Carl may be one of the most unusual success stories in modern pop culture, growing from a self-published LitRPG series into a full-blown phenomenon with an impressively massive audience. Matt Dinniman's strange, violent, and hilarious blend of dungeon crawling, game mechanics, satire, and dynamic storytelling has helped push the once-niche LitRPG genre back into the mainstream.

Now, anticipation is reaching another level as the series barrels toward its conclusion, with the final book, The Beautiful Place, set to become a massive two-volume finale in the coming years. After years of ascending floors and facing off against dangerous enemies, and unpacking an ever-expanding mythology surrounding the Crawl, expectations for Carl and Donut's endgame are understandably sky-high.

The franchise itself is also expanding far beyond the novels, with a new television series on the way, numerous new collectible releases, and one exciting upcoming release, The Royal Court, arriving in November 2026 with some very familiar faces.

Dungeon Crawler Carl is bringing several of its most recognizable characters directly to the tabletop with Dungeon Crawler Carl RPG: The Royal Court Minis Set, a new collection of prepainted miniatures designed to accompany Renegade Game Studios' upcoming role-playing game.

Priced at $65, the set is currently available for preorder and is scheduled to release in November 2026, alongside the wider Dungeon Crawler Carl RPG and its various components and expansions. The box contains nine prepainted figures, with several characters represented in different poses or configurations. The full lineup consists of Carl Royal Court, Princess Donut Royal Court, Baby Mongo, Carl & Donut, Mongo Royal Court, Carl Explosives "Expert," Donut Riding Mongo, Samantha, and Katia Grim. Each miniature is individually packaged, and Renegade describes the figures as highly detailed.

They are also built with broader tabletop compatibility in mind. The miniatures use the 28–32mm scale and are compatible with games using 1:5 grids, meaning they are not restricted solely to the official Dungeon Crawler Carl system. For fans more interested in display pieces than campaigns, Renegade is specifically marketing them as collectibles as well.

The timing is particularly notable because the Royal Court set arrives as part of Dungeon Crawler Carl's much larger move into tabletop role-playing. Renegade’s official Dungeon Crawler Carl Roleplaying Game allows players to enter the World Dungeon themselves, either by creating an original crawler or taking control of established characters such as Carl, Donut, and Katia. The game retains many of the concepts that define Matt Dinniman's novels, including achievements, loot boxes, viewers, races, classes, skills, spells, and the constant threat of being killed for entertainment.

The Core Rulebook Royal Court Edition, also priced at $65 and scheduled for November 2026, contains more than 300 pages and focuses primarily on Floors 3 through 5. Renegade says it includes material for character creation, neighborhoods, saferooms, mobs, loot, spells, and more than 24 playable sessions.

There is also a $55 Starter Set arriving in November for newcomers. That package concentrates on the tutorial Floors 1 and 2 and includes rules, character-building materials, a Game Master toolkit, canon lore, an introductory scenario, pregenerated characters, maps, tokens, character sheets, and dice. Its campaign material is designed to flow directly into the Core Rulebook, and will launch alongside the Unstoppable card game as well. Fans will want to mark their calendars for November 2026 for the full launch of Dungeon Crawler Carl's definitive tabletop RPG experience.
