Netflix is reportedly producing an untitled documentary on UFC CEO Dana White, with a release targeted for the first quarter of 2027. The project is being directed by filmmaker Gotham Chopra. It is expected to trace White's rise from boxing instructor and fight promoter to the face of the UFC's global expansion. The documentary was reportedly greenlit by former Netflix content chief Bela Bajaria while the streamer was negotiating for UFC media rights. Netflix ultimately lost that rights battle to Paramount, but production on the White film continued.
Dana White's story heads to the screen
Page Six reported that the documentary began as a project about Las Vegas before evolving into a film centred on White. It is expected to examine the UFC's growth, its ownership history and White's role in shaping the promotion.
Chopra has previously worked on major sports documentaries, including Tom Brady's Man in the Arena and projects involving LeBron James, Kobe Bryant and Simone Biles. He is also a co-founder of Religion of Sports with Michael Strahan and Tom Brady.
The film may include footage from UFC Freedom 250, the event staged on the White House South Lawn, as well as White's move into boxing through Zuffa Boxing.
The $2 million deal that changed Dana White's life forever
Dana White helped persuade Frank and Lorenzo Fertitta to buy the UFC for $2 million in 2001. He was installed as president and later received equity in the company.
Under the Fertitta brothers and White, the UFC expanded from a niche, frequently criticised sport into a globally televised business. The promotion was sold to an Endeavour-led group for $4 billion in 2016, with White retained as president and later named CEO.
The documentary is expected to cover that transformation. It is unclear how much access filmmakers had to White or how deeply it will address controversies around his career.
White's Netflix project keeps fans guessing
Neither Netflix nor Dana White has announced the documentary's title or confirmed a premiere date. Gotham Chopra has also not publicly commented on the reported project.
Bela Bajaria left Netflix in October 2026 and was replaced by Peter Rice. That raised questions about whether the leadership change could affect the film's release.
If the timeline holds up, the documentary would arrive as White continues overseeing the UFC's move to Paramount. He is also expanding into boxing through Zuffa Boxing.
