Industries tied to the artificial intelligence data center boom are adding almost 20K payroll jobs a month, up from a flat trend a year ago, Renaissance Macro Research said.
RenMac’s accompanying chart put September employment growth across selected industries at 17.8K jobs a month, measured as a six-month moving average of monthly changes rather than cumulative job gains.
Nonresidential specialty trade contractors accounted for the largest contribution, at 9.6K jobs a month. Nonresidential building construction contributed 2.1K, while electrical equipment and appliance manufacturing and computer and electronic product manufacturing each added 1.8K. Heavy and civil engineering construction contributed 1.5K, and utilities added 950.
The chart’s total measure was close to zero in October 2025 before rising over subsequent months.
