Is RuneScape: Dragonwilds crossplay? Multiplayer across platforms explained

Translate

With RuneScape: Dragonwilds fully launching across PC and consoles, you might be wondering if the game has crossplay support.

Are you on PC while your friends are spread across Xbox, PlayStation and Switch?

If that sounds about right, here's what you need to know about cross-platform multiplayer in RS: Dragonwilds.

RuneScape has full crossplay support across PC and all consoles.

No matter if you're playing on PC via Steam, Epic or via the Jagex Launcher, on PS5 via PS Plus, Xbox via Game Pass or on Switch 2, anyone with a copy of the game can play with anyone else.

From the main menu, the person hosting the game must click 'Play' before selecting to play online.

Either select an existing world or create a new one, and with the world of choice highlighted, select 'Edit Settings' at the bottom of your screen.

From here, under the 'Privacy' setting, you can either choose for your world to be for friends only, requiring an invite, or public, meaning anyone can join from the server browser.

Ticking either 'Friends' or 'Public' will cause another option to appear allowing you to enable or disable crossplay.

If you're trying to play with friends, once you've selected the appropriate options in settings, enter your world.

Open the pause menu, and in the top-right of your screen, you'll see a message reading "INVITE CODE:" alongside an alphanumeric code in the format XXXX-XXXX. Send this code to your friends.

After selecting 'Play' from the main menu, you will have a prompt in the bottom-right corner marked "Invite Code".

Press this, and you'll be prompted to enter the invite code you retrieved above. Hit 'OK' and you'll join your friend's world. It's as simple as that!
