When it comes to impressive gaming feats, The Legend of Zelda franchise celebrating its 40th anniversary this year is definitely one of them. It was back in February 1986 that Nintendo launched The Legend of Zelda for the first time, and now, four decades on, it has become one of the most successful gaming franchises of all time, with 21 mainline titles under its belt.

As such, 2026 has been dedicated to all manner of The Legend of Zelda-based announcements, ranging from upcoming merchandise to the most exciting piece of news fans could have received: the news that The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake would be launching on the Nintendo Switch 2 on 5 November 2026.

However, that is most certainly not all, as Nintendo also unveiled the box art for the upcoming The Legend of Zelda: Master Collection. This brand-new trading card collection comes courtesy of a collaboration with Panini, an Italian company best known for their production of football stickers and other TCG packs.

What makes The Legend of Zelda: Master Collection stand out against the rest, is that it will not be dedicated to a particular Zelda entry. Instead, it will celebrate 40 years of the series by including art of almost every mainline entry, ranging from the original The Legend of Zelda, all the way to 2024's The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom. If you want to check if your favorite entry will be showcased, the full list is as follows:

  • The Legend of Zelda
  • The Adventures of Link
  • A Link to the Past
  • Link's Awakening
  • Ocarina of Time
  • Majora's Mask
  • Oracle of Seasons
  • Oracle of Ages
  • Four Swords
  • The Wind Waker
  • Four Swords Adventures
  • The Minish Cap
  • Twilight Princess
  • Phantom Hourglass
  • Spirit Tracks
  • Skyward Sword
  • A Link Between WorldsTri Force Heroes
  • Breath of the Wild
  • Tears of the Kingdom
  • Echoes of Wisdom

At the time of writing, neither Nintendo nor Panini had detailed the price tag, number of cards featured, or the release date for The Legend of Zelda: Master Collection, but with the TCG collection set to be the most ambitious of its kind yet, it is no wonder that its developers are putting a lot of time and effort into its manufacturing.

As well as featuring some of the most iconic Zelda entries, such as Wind Waker, Ocarina of Time, and Twilight Princess, it is good to see that some of the more underrated gems, such as Oracle of Seasons and Oracle of Ages have been included, so we can only hope that the art provided on these cards will perfectly encapsulate the magic of the Game Boy Color titles.

With just a few weeks to go until the arrival of the highly anticipated The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake, there has never been a better time to be a fan of the Nintendo franchise. Not only that, but with a live-action movie also set to hit cinemas on 30 April 2027, the future is looking pretty bright when it comes to the next four decades of The Legend of Zelda.
