Undefeated MBSA eye CSR Championship title in debut season

Translate

KUALA LUMPUR: Debutants MBSA Blue Pelican face their biggest test of the season when they take on Muamalat Bullets in the CSR Championship final at EV Arena Elmina City Centre in Shah Alam on Saturday.

Confidence in both camps was evident at the pre-match media session in Subang yesterday.

MBSA finished the league campaign undefeated, including a 27-14 victory over Muamalat.

However, head coach and player Faridzal Ismail said that achievement was only the starting point in their pursuit of the title.

"We are fully prepared for the final. Although this is MBSA's first season in the competition, our goal remains clear: to give 100 per cent and fight to bring home the title," he said.

MBSA player Umar Irsyad said winning the championship would demonstrate what the team could achieve and serve as a dedicated gift to Shah Alam.

"For us, this final is an opportunity to show that MBSA can compete at this level. If we can emerge as champions, I believe it would be a very meaningful gift to Shah Alam," said Umar.

Meanwhile, Muamalat Bullets rugby director Ts Megat Mohammad Faisal hope to win their third title despite an injury-hit start to the season.

"The start of the season was challenging, with the squad dealing with a number of injuries. But we have reached the final, and the chance to finish the campaign strongly is still there. We want to give our best," said Megat.

Bullets player Hariz Ezzat Hamidon viewed the final as a key milestone in his career, praising the pathway provided by organiser Enervive Sports since he won the Best Backline Player award during the 2019 Super Schools Rugby tournament.

Meanwhile, ATM Vanguard will take on Ragbi PDRM in the bronze playoff at the same venue on Saturday.
