It's been more than 3 years since the amazing Hogwarts Legacy first exploded onto our small screens. The RPG adventure was lacking a certain famous wizard, but that didn't stop it being an overnight success. The team best known for developing the Just Cause franchise absolutely smashed it out of the park, combining ranged combat, spell casting and exploration in one magical package. And while we're all yearning. And while a sequel is in active development, it could be 2027 or 2028 before we see more from the school of magic.
Luckily, fans of Hogwarts Legacy might have the next best thing to look forward to soon, while they wait for a sequel. DLSS 5 has been officially confirmed for Hogwarts Legacy and will be available as soon as next month. Currently, DLSS 5 and its official support are only available for a handful of games, so seeing it come to Hogwarts Legacy is a refreshing surprise. DLSS 5 uses AI technology to render in real time and when applied correctly, can transform older games into near-movie-like experiences.
Getting DLSS 5 running officially with Hogwarts Legacy is the perfect excuse to jump back into the wizardry wonderment one last time. For those with a beefy enough PC to support it, having DLSS 5 overhaul this 3-year-old game could lead to some rather impressive results. We've seen it unofficially transform games like Dark Souls 3 and Uncharted 4 and the results were astounding. Amazing lighting effects and details on character models that have to be seen to be believed. Now, Hogwarts Legacy is getting the magic makeover it deserves.
Gamers don't have long to wait either. DLSS 5 support is coming to Hogwarts Legacy on November 5, 2026. NVIDIA have been hard at work to optimize their frame rendering tech and recent updates have slashed GPU usage in half, which is a remarkable result. While yet to be revealed, we could be playing Hogwarts Legacy with a buttery smooth FPS and not have to scrimp on the visuals. Taking down trolls in the Scottish Highlands may never have looked so good before.
At the moment, NVIDIA's own website only has screenshots of Hogwarts Legacy to share. The slider lets you see the image with or without DLSS 5 applied, and the results are impressive. Lighting looks more realistic with shade and shadows muting colors, while textures seem to pop more. It's hard to know how impactful a difference it will be without seeing the game running, but considering they managed a frame rate of 312fps with NBA 2K27, it would seem the skies the limit for what this technology can achieve.
Hogwarts Legacy still has plenty of life in it and getting it remastered using DLSS 5 feels like the perfect holiday gift. For fans of the franchise, this should keep you busy while we wait for sneak peaks and reveals from Hogwarts Legacy 2. With much of the gaming focus for November going to the launch of the gigantic Grand Theft Auto VI, it's nice to see other games are getting some love and just might steal a little of the limelight. Between Dungeon Crawler Carl and Hogwarts Legacy, there just might be enough distractions to keep us all busy while we're taking a break from GTA this November.
