Coronation Street's Lucy Fallon praises Bethany's new romance amid Kit drama

Coronation Street's Bethany Platt has experienced her fair share of romantic disasters, most recently having a one-night stand with her mum's ex-boyfriend Kit Green. But upcoming scenes could signal a turning point in her love life, as she rekindles an old spark with a fan favourite.
Lately, Bethany has been sharing the screen with Ryan Connor a lot more than usual, leading fans to point out their obvious chemistry. And after a few flirty exchanges, next week's episodes will see the pair going on a date.

Speaking about their history, Lucy Fallon, who plays Bethany, praised the storyline and called Ryan "a good choice" for her character.
"They've been with each other quite briefly probably about eight years ago. They had a bit of a thing for a little while, then Bethany moved on to Daniel [Osbourne]. To be fair I did see it coming – Bethany can't go back with Daniel, that ship has severely sailed, so far away you can't even see it!
"Ryan is a good choice. I think the pair of them work really well, and I love working with Ryan [Prescott, who plays Ryan] as well, so it's a good one for me."
The star shared Bethany's optimism about the date, as she tries to move on from her ill-advised fling with Kit.
"Obviously the guilt about Kit is on her mind but she's not thinking she'd rather be with him, she definitely thinks this is a good way for her to forget that even happened and move on. But also she genuinely likes Ryan and thinks they would be good together. So she is optimistic."

Ryan has appeared in Weatherfield on and off for 20 years and has become a favourite among viewers, as well as for Fallon. The actor explained why he is a good match for Bethany, calling him a "genuinely nice person" with "good morals".
"He's been through quite a lot so maybe they can trauma bond. They can understand each other – he has scars on his face, she has a stoma, I think they'd have a sort of understanding there," she continued.
"He's also fun as well. When she was with Daniel, his character is quite serious, Ryan is more fun and I think that's what Bethany needs. A bit of fun."
Coronation Street airs on weeknights at 8.30pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
