Flamingos head coach Akeem Busari has acknowledged the challenge awaiting his team as Nigeria prepare to face Venezuela in the quarter-finals of the ongoing 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.

The two sides will clash on Sunday at Mohammed VI Football Complex Pitch 4 in Rabat, with a place in the semi-finals at stake.

Nigeria secured their quarter-final ticket after edging Mexico 2-1 on Thursday, while Venezuela pulled off a major upset by defeating tournament favourites Germany 1-0.

Busari Wary Of Venezuela

Despite Venezuela’s impressive victory, Busari has warned his players against underestimating their opponents, insisting that every team remaining in the competition has the quality to win the title.

“Every team in the competition is a contender; everyone could be a champion,” Busari told FIFA.

“Venezuela won their game, so they are a good side. But Nigeria are too, so on the day it’ll be decided over 90 minutes, and we’ll all give our best.”

The crucial encounter is scheduled to kick off at 5:00 pm Nigerian time on Sunday.
