Zelda: Wind Waker, Twilight Princess, Skyward Sword Officially Returning In New Collection

Known as 'Cyberpunk 2077's' biggest fan, Angharad is a Welsh games writer who thrives in anything related to digital storytelling. If a video game explores the intricacies and horrors of womanhood, she is there.

Thanks to previous work at GAMINGbible, GameByte, The Loadout, Game Luster, Angharad has built a strong understanding of both the digital world and what fans want from it and is eager to share her thoughts and expertise with readers.

Although the Wilds duology, consisting of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, mark the best-selling entries in the beloved Nintendo franchise, it is classics such as Wind Waker, Twilight Princess, and Skyward Sword that are often hailed as some of the best video games of all time.

First released across the early 2000s, these titles encapsulated what The Legend of Zelda series was about and now, decades on, they are set to return in a stunning new release.

Despite both Wind Waker and Twilight Princess receiving HD remakes on the Wii U, they are still yet to welcome a Nintendo Switch port, and although Nintendo is currently celebrating 40 years of the franchise, it seems as though fans' calls are going unheard. Luckily, the same cannot be said for The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, as it received a Nintendo Switch release back in 2021.

Now, whilst we wait for the launch of one remake that has been announced, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, there is even more exciting news, as Wind Waker, Twilight Princess, and Skyward Sword are set to make a triumphant return in The Legend of Zelda: Master Collection.

Created by Panini, a company best known for its TCG sets and stickers, The Legend of Zelda: Master Collection is a trading card collection set which aims to celebrate the entire history and timeline of the Zelda series, all the way from the very first entry back in 1986 to its most recent entry, 2024's The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom.

As such, the collection will feature never-before-seen artwork inspired by the various characters, eras, and artstyles seen across the franchise, and with every mainline entry being included, you are guaranteed to see your favorite. More specifically, it will feature nods to A Link to the Past, Link's Awakening, Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, The Minish Cap, Skyward Sword, and A Link Between Worlds, and many more, and each collector's set will arrive alongside a dedicated album where you will be able to store your cards safely.

At the time of writing, neither Panini nor Nintendo had revealed much information about The Legend of Zelda: Master Collection. As such, we do not yet know a price tag, release date, or the full list and number of cards. However, Panini has revealed the collection's box art, which has been enough to get potential fans excited.

This announcement may not be the modern-day remakes of The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker and The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess that we have been waiting for, but it is certainly the next best thing, especially if you are partial to a trading card game. Who knows? If The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake is successful, it may just mark the beginning for remakes of some of our favorite Zelda entries. For now, however, we can only cross our fingers and hope that the future is looking bright for fans of the beloved series.
