The Ogun State Police Command has recovered a stolen, unregistered Lexus ES350 saloon car in Ondo State following an intelligence-driven operation by operatives of its Special Weapons and Tactics Squad.

The vehicle was reportedly snatched by suspected armed robbers at about 2am on September 15, 2026, in Ogijo, Sagamu Local Government area of the state.

The command disclosed this in a statement issued on Friday by its Police Public Relations Officer, Oluseyi Babaseyi.

According to the statement, the police swung into action after receiving a report of the robbery, prompting the Officer-in-Charge of SWAT, Obeh Eneye, to direct operatives to commence investigations and track down the perpetrators.

Babaseyi said, “The Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Squad of the Ogun State Police Command has recovered a stolen, unregistered Lexus ES350 saloon car in Ondo State, following sustained intelligence-led efforts.

“The recovery followed a report received on 15 September 2026 that suspected armed robbers had snatched a red Lexus ES350 saloon car at about 0200hrs in the Ogijo area of Ogun State. The vehicle had no registration number.

“Acting on the report, the Officer-in-Charge of SWAT, SP Obeh Eneye, directed operatives to commence investigations and pursue available leads towards recovering the vehicle and identifying those responsible.

“Sustained investigative efforts subsequently led to the discovery of the vehicle in Ondo State. SWAT operatives facilitated its recovery and conveyed it to the Ogun State Police Command.”

The statement noted that investigations are ongoing to apprehend other suspects connected with the incident and recover any additional stolen property.

Commending the operatives for their efforts, the Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, Bode Ojajuni, praised their diligence and professionalism, reiterating the command’s commitment to intelligence-led policing, the recovery of stolen property and the prosecution of offenders.

Ojajuni also advised vehicle owners to ensure that their vehicles were duly registered and displayed valid registration numbers to facilitate identification, ownership verification and the tracking of stolen vehicles.

He further urged residents to report suspicious activities promptly and provide credible information to the police, assuring them of the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property across the state.
