Fox News has signed former White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt as an on-air contributor, the conservative cable news network announced Monday.

Leavitt, 29, served as President Donald Trump’s top spokesperson and one of the administration’s key public faces until she stepped down in late August. She was the youngest White House press secretary in American history.

“Karoline’s firsthand experience in the White House and on the presidential campaign trail gives her a distinct understanding of today’s political landscape,” Fox News Media CEO Suzanne Scott said in a statement. “We look forward to her providing our audience with authentic and sharp insight across all Fox News Media platforms.”

She will start her new role “providing commentary and analysis” on Nov. 1, Fox said.

Leavitt, who gave birth to her second child in May, left the Trump administration at the end of August after working as press secretary since the start of the president’s second term. She departed the West Wing to “spend more time with her beautiful young children and family,” Trump said in an Aug. 12 social media post.

“Karoline will now be one of my top outside advisors, and an influential voice within the Republican Party, as we work to defy History, and conclusively win the Midterm Elections,” Trump said on his Truth Social platform.

Leavitt was part of Trump’s inner circle in the White House and during the 2024 presidential race, acting as the campaign’s national press secretary. She was known for her fierce defenses of the president’s record and her occasional confrontations with political reporters inside the James S. Brady Press Briefing Room.

Leavitt herself was on the ballot in the 2022 midterm elections, running unsuccessfully for a House seat in her home state of New Hampshire. She lost to the Democratic incumbent, Rep. Chris Pappas.

In a statement, Leavitt said she looked forward to “bringing my unique perspective from my experience as White House Press Secretary, along with the same energy and candor that defied [sic] my tenure, to Fox’s millions of viewers across their many platforms.”

Leavitt is not the first former Trump press secretary to go on to work at Fox News.

Kayleigh McEnany, who held the role from April 2020 through the final day of Trump’s first term, joined Fox in 2021 and now co-hosts the daytime talk show “Outnumbered” as well as the weekend series “Saturday in America with Kayleigh McEnany.”
