Weather: Heavy rain set to batter THESE parts of SA

Here is what the weather has in store for KZN, the Free State, and the North West on Monday 21 September 2026.

A Yellow Level 2 warning has been issued for severe thunderstorms with heavy downpours, damaging winds, hail, and excessive lightning expected over KwaZulu-Natal. In contrast, isolated showers are expected in the Free State and North West.

KWAZULU-NATAL

Morning fog is expected over the interior; otherwise, it will be partly cloudy and cool to warm, with scattered afternoon showers and thundershowers.

Along the coast, winds will be light to moderate northerly to north-easterly, becoming light to moderate south-westerly in the south from mid-morning, spreading northwards to Cape St. Lucia.

The UVB sunburn index will be high.

DURBAN

Durban will be partly cloudy with scattered afternoon showers and thundershowers

The wind will be Light and variable at first, otherwise light to moderate southerly to south-westerly.

Temperatures will range from 18°C to 25°C.

FREE STATE

Cloudy at first, otherwise partly cloudy and cool to warm with isolated showers and thundershowers.

BLOEMFONTEIN

Bloemfontein will be partly cloudy with isolated showers and thundershowers

Temperatures will range from a minimum of 12°C to a maximum of 22°C.

NORTH WEST

North West province will be cloudy at first, otherwise partly cloudy and cool to warm, with isolated showers and thundershowers.

MAHIKENG

Mahikeng is going to be partly cloudy with isolated showers and thundershowers.

Temperatures will range from a minimum of 13°C. to a maximum of 24°C.
