‘The Beast in Me’ Is No Longer a Limited Series: Netflix Orders Season 2

The phenomenon of series being un-renewed is an established one at this point. Somewhat newer, and on the other end of the spectrum, lie shows that are un-limited.

Case in point: The Beast in Me, which was conceived, executed and won Emmys as a limited series. Now, though, Netflix has ordered a second season of the show, with Claire Danes set to reprise her role and showrunner Howard Gordon also returning.

Gordon (Homeland, 24) has also signed an overall deal with Netflix, under which he’ll develop new series through his Teakwood Lane Productions.

“We always told ourselves we’d only do a second season of The Beast in Me if we found a story that was worthy of the first — and I’m thrilled to say we found it,” Gordon said in a statement. “We loved making this show and our audience seemed to love watching it, so we’re enormously grateful to Jinny Howe and Netflix, and to Karey Burke and 20th Television for giving us the chance to get the band back together and do it again.”

Information about season two is thin at this point. Danes will reprise her role as Aggie Wiggs, an author who in season one was dealing with grief from the death of her young son and becomes intrigued by her new neighbor, Nile Jarvis (Matthew Rhys), a real estate executive who allegedly killed his wife.

Rhys won an Emmy for best actor in a limited series at this year’s Emmys, and Danes and the show were nominees. The Beast in Me, released in November 2025, also drew a sizable audience: It was in Netflix’s worldwide top 10 for seven weeks. In the U.S., the show spent eight weeks on Nielsen’s streaming charts for original series, accumulating just under 97 million hours of watch time.

Gordon and Daniel Pearle, a writer and executive producer on season one, will be co-showrunners for season two of The Beast in Me. Gabe Rotter created the series.

Gordon and Pearle will exec produce season two with Antonio Campos (who directed half of the first season), Caroline Baron, Amy Lippman, Rotter, Conan O’Brien, David Kissinger, Jeff Ross, Danes and Jodie Foster.
