Exclusive: Coronation Street star calls for exciting Peter Barlow baby twist

Coronation Street star Jane Danson has revealed that she's on a mission to bring Peter Barlow back to the cobbles.

The soap favourite reckons Peter should return for a juicy storyline with her character Leanne Battersby.

Peter was last seen on Boxing Day 2023, when he left Weatherfield to travel the world by boat.

His then-wife Carla encouraged him to go off for the adventure, recognising that he was dissatisfied with his lot in life and needed a fresh start.

Speaking exclusively to Inside Soap, Jane explained: "I'm on a regular 'Bring Peter Barlow back to Corrie' campaign!

"I meet up with Chris [Gascoyne, who played him] quite often and we wonder what Peter is up to since he left Weatherfield."

She continued: "It'd be hilarious if Peter turns up with a baby, crashes at Leanne's and gets jealous of her and Idris – the life he could have had.

"He'd go off somewhere and leave Leanne holding the baby again, like he did with Simon!

"I remember feeling bereft when Leanne and Peter split up. Chris and I had worked together for such a long time."

Last year, Chris appeared in six-part Channel 5 drama The Feud, starring alongside Jill Halfpenny, Larry Lamb and Amy Nuttall.

He'll also be keeping busy over Christmas this year, as he was recently confirmed to appear in panto. Chris will be playing a royal henchman in Snow White at Northwich Memorial Court.

Back in Corrie, Carla is currently in a happy and stable relationship with her wife Lisa.

Meanwhile, as Jane mentioned, Leanne is also making a fresh start with Weatherfield newcomer Idris – who's currently causing trouble for many of the residents and will soon start targeting Carla next!
