FG to unveil African global festival in October

The Federal Government is set to launch the African Global Festival Nigeria, known as AGLOFEST, in October 2026, with the initiative expected to strengthen Nigeria’s cultural diplomacy, economic cooperation and international engagement.

The Permanent Secretary, General Services Office, in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Dr Ibrahim Kana, stated this in a statement on Friday in Abuja.

He conveyed the approval of President Bola Tinubu to the partners through a formal letter.

Kana said the festival would provide an international platform for cultural exchange, investment and economic cooperation, bringing together government leaders, investors, businesses, cultural institutions, creative industry professionals, entrepreneurs and development partners.

According to him, “AGLOFEST will feature three major components”: the Black Diaspora Economic Forum, the Black Diaspora Cultural Presentation and the Renewed Global Hope and Peace Concert.

He said the economic forum would focus on “trade, investment and business partnerships,” while the cultural presentation would celebrate Africa’s heritage and creative expressions.

Kana added that the Renewed Global Hope and Peace Concert would promote “peace, unity and positive global engagement through music and entertainment.”

He said AGLOFEST is being developed as a public-private partnership between the Federal Government and relevant stakeholders, in collaboration with key ministries, departments and agencies, including the Ministries of Art, Culture, Tourism and Creative Economy; Trade, Investment and Industry; and Foreign Affairs.

The initiative is designed to showcase Nigeria’s cultural heritage, tourism potential, creative industries and investment opportunities to an international audience while strengthening its connections with Africa and people of African descent worldwide.

The October launch is expected to mark a significant step in the Federal Government’s efforts to promote cultural diplomacy, attract economic partnerships and deepen international relations.
