Turner Classic Movies To Sit Within Skydance Film Group

Translate

EXCLUSIVE: Three years ago, following the last merger involving Warner Bros., Turner Classic Movies came under the spotlight after filmmakers Steven Spielberg, Martin Scorsese and Paul Thomas Anderson called an emergency meeting with David Zaslav about restructuring the network.

Now that Skydance has brought together Warner Bros Discovery and Paramount, the network has a new spot in the corporate structure.

Deadline understands that the channel, which airs classic films such as They Shoot Horses, Don’t They, The Blob and The Asphalt Jungle, will be housed within Skydance Motion Picture Group, which is now led by Co-Chairs Dana Goldberg and Josh Greenstein.

The move makes sense given that TCM was previously run by Warner Bros. Motion Picture Group bosses Mike De Luca and Pam Abdy, who left ahead of the Paramount-WBD deal, after Spielberg, Scorsese and Anderson’s involvement.

At the time of the original move, De Luca and Abdy reported into then-U.S. Networks Chief Kathleen Finch on the channel, and some elements of the operational side of the business remained under the portfolio of Channing Dungey when she took over Finch’s network responsibilities in 2025.

Earlier this week, Goldberg and Greenstein said they they see themselves as “stewards of two of the most storied studios in Hollywood history,” which bodes well for TCM.

Dungey, who reports to George Cheeks, Co-Chair and Chief Content Officer, Skydance TV, and JB Perrette, Co-Chair & Chief Business Officer, Skydance TV and Skydance DTC, now oversees all of the company’s 50+ cable networks, taking on oversight of Paramount networks such as MTV, Comedy Central, BET and Nickelodeon.

There have also been other key hires in the cable distribution space in recent days; Ray Hopkins was just named President, Distribution, and he will be tasked with handling negotiations with pay-TV operators for the 50-plus cable networks at Skydance as well as CBS, with the resulting deals supplying much-needed revenue for the debt-laden company.
