Cynthia Erivo to Play Tupac’s Mom in Snoop Dogg Biopic

Cynthia Erivo is no stranger to biopics, having played Aretha Franklin and Harriet Tubman in recent years, and now she’ll be a part of Snoop, the upcoming Craig Brewer biopic about the legendary life and times of Snoop Dogg (played by Outer Banks star Jonathan Daviss). She’ll star in the movie as Afeni Shakur, the mother of Tupac and a fascinating figure in her own right.
Afeni Shakur, as the recent FX documentary Dear Mama explored, was a former Black Panther activist who had a profound impact on her son. Erivo recently starred in the two Wicked films, which are available now on 4K Ultra HD via Amazon.
