Central Lombok, NTB (ANTARA) - The state-owned airport operator, PT Angkasa Pura Lombok International Airport, West Nusa Tenggara recorded aircraft passenger movements from the Indonesian MotoGP in October 5-13, 2026 period reached 82,689 passengers and 891.4 tons of cargo from 927 aircraft movements.

"This achievement reflects the high mobility of passengers and logistics needs during the 2026 MotoGP in Mandalika," General Manager of Lombok International Airport, Aidhil Philip Julian, stated on Wednesday.

Compared to the 2025 Indonesian MotoGP period, Julian said the number of aircraft movements increased by 27.6 percent, passengers increased by 14 percent, and cargo increased by 42.7 percent.

"In this 2026 MotoGP service period, we recorded safe operations with zero accidents, while providing a memorable travel experience through hospitality and the rich culture of Lombok for racers, crew, officials and tourists," he added.

To support smooth mobility for the 2026 Mandalika MotoGP, his office operated 75 flights outside of regular flights. This number consists of 53 additional flights (extra flights) served by Garuda Indonesia, TransNusa, Citilink, Pelita Air and Batik Air airlines.

Followed by six flights with a change of aircraft type to a larger capacity by Garuda Indonesia, and eight charter flights.

"There are also eight positioning flights to support flight operational needs during the 2026 MotoGP period," Julian noted.

According to him, this aviation support reflects Lombok Airport's preparedness to meet rising air travel demand during the international motor racing event.

"Services during the MotoGP period are the result of coordination and collaboration among all airport stakeholders to ensure safe and smooth operations," Julian pointed out.

He added that the airport's efforts go beyond operational readiness, extending to providing a travel experience that reflects Lombok's hospitality and rich local culture.

For the 2026 MotoGP period, the airport terminal went through a beautification with nuances of local wisdom that combine with the visual identity of MotoGP 2026.

Regional art performances, including gendang beleq, senggong music, and other traditional acts, are also featured to welcome domestic and international tourists and showcase Lombok's cultural heritage.

"In addition to cultural activation, we supported community economic development by providing promotional and sales space for local MSMEs," Julian said.
