A knackered ram found himself trapped in a concrete pipe while taking refuge from nine randy sheep.

Firefighters had to use chimney rods and ropes to free Rambo, who weighs a whopping 97kg, from his predicament.

It is understood the ram was forced to flee into the pipe after he was chased by a flock of ewes who are all 'competing for his undivided attention'.

Thankfully, he was rescued unharmed on Sunday.

Bex Maynard, who owns Western Farm in Somerset, joked that Rambo was taking a 'well-earned break from his romantic duties' when he became trapped.

'To be fair, there are nine rather amorous ewes all competing for his undivided attention and a chap is entitled to a little peace and quiet occasionally,' she said.

After working meticulously to free Rambo, firefighters were able to wiggle him out after managing to slip a sheet beneath his bulk.

But despite all the time and effort spent saving him, Ms Maynard quipped that Rambo did not seem the least bit concerned by the situation.

She told The Sun: 'Judging by Rambo's expression, he emerged considerably less concerned by the whole episode than everyone else involved.

'We cannot thank the crews enough for coming out, taking such care of the daft bugger and getting him safely out.'

The farmer has since set up a JustGiving page raising money for two charities - the Fire Fighters Charity and the Farmers Charity - to say thank you for rescuing Rambo.
