KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 31 — Micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) with annual sales of less than RM3 million will not be required to implement e-Invoicing following the increase in the e-Invoice implementation threshold from RM1 million to RM3 million.

The Inland Revenue Board (LHDN) said in a statement that the move is in line with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s announcement at the 2026 National Day Prime Minister’s Address yesterday to raise the e-Invoice implementation threshold, effective Sept 1.

“The announcement also benefits more than 1.1 million businesses that are exempted.

“The Madani government’s initiative reflects its concern in easing the compliance burden and costs borne by MSMEs, while giving businesses more room to focus on sustaining and expanding their operations,” it said.

LHDN emphasised that the government strongly encouraged MSMEs to participate voluntarily in e-Invoice implementation, in line with the country’s aspiration to digitalise businesses.

It also said it remained committed to ensuring the smooth implementation of e-Invoice through education activities, hand-holding programmes and continuous engagement sessions.

“The initiative also includes guides and tutorials on using the MyInvois Portal, MyInvois application and MyInvois e-POS to enhance awareness and understanding of e-Invoice implementation among MSMEs,” it said.

According to the statement, since e-Invoice implementation began on Aug 1, 2024, a total of 265,379 taxpayers had submitted e-Invoices, involving more than 1.84 billion e-Invoices.

It said the achievement reflected good acceptance among taxpayers, including MSMEs, of e-Invoice implementation as a transformation initiative to digitalise business operations and ensure transactions are properly recorded or stored.

Further details on e-Invoice implementation are available through the e-Invoice microsite.

LHDN said taxpayers could also contact the agency through its dedicated e-Invoice channels by visiting LHDN offices, contacting the e-Invoice Helpdesk at 03-8682 8000 or using MyInvois Live Chat.

General enquiries can also be submitted via email at [email protected] or through the MyInvois Customer Feedback Form. — Bernama
