Euromatch NPFL: Katsina United Boss Savours Home Win Over Sporting Lagos

Translate

Katsina United technical adviser Azeez Audu Mohammed has expressed delight following his side’s 2-1 victory over Sporting Lagos in their Matchday 11 encounter at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium on Sunday.

The Chanji Boys made a strong start to the contest, with Luis Dadong scoring twice in the first half, finding the back of the net in the 10th and 28th minutes.

Sporting Lagos reduced the deficit in the 65th minute through Aliyu Baba, but Katsina United held on to secure all three points.

Mohammed Happy With Home Victory

N
Mohammed said he was more concerned about the victory than keeping a clean sheet, while acknowledging the quality of their opponents.

“It’s not about a clean sheet. The important thing is that we won against a quality side. In 11 matches, they picked up 10 points away from home, so it’s not a small feat for us to beat them,” he told the NPFL media.

Commendation For Players

The Katsina United tactician praised his players for executing the game plan but admitted that their defensive performance in the second half needed improvement.

“I think my boys did well, aside from conceding. We will continue working hard until we get it right,” Mohammed added.

“I think we didn’t defend well in the second half. We are going to talk to the defenders on how to do things right. Overall, they did well and played according to instructions because we faced a very good team. The plan was to stop them from playing, which we did.”

Katsina United will now turn their attention to their next league fixture, where they will travel to Ozoro to face Warri Wolves.
