Travis Kelce Shares Heartwarming News Before Kansas City Chiefs' Week 7 Game

Travis Kelce had a reason to celebrate before the Kansas City Chiefs headed to Seattle for their Week 7 matchup. The veteran tight end spent an evening supporting children through Operation Breakthrough, a Kansas City charity that has received help from him over the years. His work away from football came after another memorable moment with his teammates, when rookie cornerback Mansoor Delane praised, “Kelce has so much aura,”. The moments gave a glimpse of the respect the Chiefs star earned inside and outside the locker room.

Kelce joined Operation Breakthrough's seventh annual Celebrity Challenge, where athletes and other public figures took part in games to raise money for the organization. Chiefs teammates George Karlaftis, Drue Tranquill and Justin Watson participated alongside players from Sporting Kansas City, the Kansas City Royals and KC Current.

Operation Breakthrough shared pictures from the event on Instagram, thanking Kelce, the celebrity captains, judges, sponsors and participants for helping its work with children and families. The activities included Minute to Win It games, a Chopped food challenge and a dance competition.

“The biggest win of the day couldn't fit on a scoreboard. With Travis Kelce helping judge the action, our 7th Annual Celebrity Challenge brought celebrity captains and their teams together to raise funds for Operation Breakthrough!” their caption reads.

Kelce's connection was not just this year. He won the fan-voted Walter Payton Man of the Year Charity Challenge for a record third time last season, earning a $35,000 donation for a charity of his choice. His contributions have helped the organisation develop its Ignition Lab, a hands-on learning center that has affected 1,000 students since 2020. According to the Chiefs, Kelce has directed nearly $2 million to the charity over the years.

Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes prepare for Seahawks defense

Kelce's good deed comes before a big game for Kansas City. The Chiefs went into this game undefeated, having just beaten a pretty physical team in the Vikings. They were set to face a Seattle Seahawks defense that head coach Andy Reid called the best in the NFL.

"They are the best in the business right now," Reid said while discussing Seattle's defensive scheme and ability to disguise coverage.

Patrick Mahomes had faced Mike Macdonald's defensive schemes when Macdonald served as Baltimore's defensive coordinator in 2022 and 2023. “They're good at every level of the defense,” Mahomes said Wednesday, according to A to Z Sports' Charles Goldman. “You have to be consistent.”

The game was scheduled for Sunday, October 25, at Lumen Field, with NBC broadcasting the contest.
