When Grand Theft Auto 6 hits the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X on November 19, it will be heard around the world. Millions of fans are eager to jump into a game that promises one of the most visually impressive experiences to date, and if GTA 5's long-term sales are any indication, people will be playing GTA 6 for a long time.

If you're planning on picking it up, PlayStation is also releasing a new hardware drop at the same time. Thanks to confirmation on the PlayStation Blog, we know an exact timeline for pre-orders, as well as pricing.

This week, PlayStation updated its blog to announce an addition to its Pulse audio headset lineup: the PlayStation Pulse Wireless Headset in Midnight Black and White. It's set to drop on November 19, smartly aligning with the launch of GTA 6, when folks are looking to upgrade their hardware for the latest major release.

Sony says that the pre-order period will start on October 29, and will run at 10AM local time through the PlayStation Direct access system, on top of other "participating retailers." Here's where it's set to arrive: "U.S., Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Iceland, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Ukraine, and the U.K. The release date for PlayStation Pulse in additional countries will be announced at a later date."

  • PS5 Pulse Headset Black and White

  • Wireless Mic Sony PS5

Here's why Sony says that there's going to be an upgrade: "Superior sound quality remains at the heart of the new headset lineup, with custom studio-inspired planar magnetic drivers that deliver exceptional sound separation and spatial accuracy. This makes it easy for players to pinpoint directional cues, such as footsteps or reloads in competitive first-person shooters. Larger planar drivers have been added to PlayStation Pulse and Pulse Edge headsets, creating fuller, deeper bass, while keeping the clean sounds players have enjoyed from Pulse Elite."

It's also going to have PlayStation Link support, for an easy connection on applicable devices, which includes the PlayStation Portal, PC, Mac, and of course, the PlayStation 5. Sony is also boasting an "AI-enhanced noise rejection" system, which people will definitely want to test when it releases, to ensure it works better than previous noise-canceling tech.

There's also a "Pulse Edge" model with "8 magnets per planar driver," a hidden/detachable boom mic, and the aforementioned AI noise rejection, which is also available on the Pulse Wireless. Although Sony says that the Pulse Wireless Headset is out along with GTA 6, the Pulse Edge Wireless headset isn't due out until "early 2027." Stay tuned for more updates before that point, including pre-order info.

If you look at the gallery above, the Edge is the model that has the mic sticking out of it.

The PlayStation 5 has a ton of hardware out for it now, whether it's themed DualSense controllers, various headsets, and a ton of other IP-based tie-ins (like the Marvel's Wolverine designs), Sony is always cooking something up. Then there's the PlayStation 5 Pro, which Sony is pushing particularly hard, albeit at a high price point.
