KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 23 — The Association of Banks in Malaysia (ABM) said its member banks are offering repayment deferments and flexible payment arrangements to ease the financial burden on families affected by the landslide in Nepal, including those whose loved ones remain missing.

In a statement yesterday, ABM said the assistance had been available since early October 2026, with member banks reaching out to the affected families.

“We recognise the profound distress and uncertainty faced by the families and next of kin. Their welfare remains our priority, and we appreciate the efforts of all parties working to secure appropriate support for them,” ABM said.

ABM said member banks had designated contact persons to guide affected next of kin, coordinate their requests and help with the necessary documentation and administrative processes.

“ABM and its member banks remain committed to working constructively with Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) and all relevant parties to support the affected families with care, compassion and respect,” it said. — Bernama
