Coronation Street's Eva makes sad decision after shock Sam incident

Translate

Coronation Street's Eva Price made a sad decision tonight after realising it was Sam Blakeman who pushed her down the stairs. Though she tried to keep the peace with her sisters Leanne and Toyah Battersby, tensions within the family continued to linger.

Last week, viewers saw Sam pushing Eva down the stairs after she caught him looking for something in The Rovers. Panicked, Sam left Eva lying on the cellar floor, where she was later found and taken to hospital.

Eva eventually remembered who had pushed her and shared her theory with Leanne and Toyah. Sam admitted his guilt and revealed he was looking for his phone after spending over £6,000 on cryptocurrency.

In tonight's episode, Sam's parental figures tried to work out the best way forward following his erratic behaviour. While they were relieved that Eva wasn't going to report him to the police, the financial implications still left them in a dire situation.

In the cafe, Toyah relayed Sam's meeting with the psychiatrist, telling Leanne that his actions "could be down to his meds". Meanwhile, the guilt-ridden teen opened up to Roy about the incident, describing himself as "selfish", "a coward" and "a thief".

Later, in the pub, Leanne desperately tried to make amends with her sister, suggesting the whole family goes for a Sunday roast in Delamere.

"I'll drive and maybe Will and Sam could bond a little bit?" Leanne said.

Eva looked visibly uncomfortable as she diplomatically brushed off the idea, saying Susie had a birthday party to go to. When Leanne persisted, Eva claimed she was short-staffed and asked for a "rain check".

When Leanne left, Ben and Eva had a debrief about the situation, with the latter feeling guilty about her lies. Despite putting on a brave face, Eva told Ben she didn't want Sam "anywhere near [her] or [her] family in his current state".

"So now I need to make out that the fake birthday party was cancelled, and you need to work a double shift on Sunday in case Leanne comes in for a drink," she said.

But how long will she be able to avoid Sam for? And will Leanne realise that she's making excuses?

Coronation Street airs on weeknights at 8.30pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
