2026 has been a memorable year so far for the Indian film industry from a box office perspective. Not one or two, but three industries have seen top grossers in India, which is simply phenomenal. The latest is Jailer 2, which recently surpassed 2.0 to become Kollywood’s highest-grossing film of all time domestically. Before the Rajinikanth starrer, Bethlehem Kudumba Unit and Dhurandhar 2 did the job for their respective industries. Keep reading for a detailed report!

Dhurandhar 2 surpassed its own predecessor to claim the top spot!

Ranveer Singh-led Dhurandhar 2, backed by insane hype, left everyone stunned with its performance in the domestic market. It kicked off its run with earth-shattering numbers and maintained momentum due to highly favorable word-of-mouth. As per the lifetime collection update, it amassed a staggering 1186.32 crore net at the Indian box office. It surpassed Dhurandhar (894.49 crore) to become the highest-grossing Bollywood film in India.

Bethlehem Kudumba Unit recorded surprising collections

Bethlehem Kudumba Unit, starring Nivin Pauly and Mamitha Baiju, turned out to be a pleasant surprise at the Indian box office. While it was expected to do good business, no one ever thought it would challenge Lokah Chapter 1 – Chandra (157.01 crore) to become Mollywood’s highest-grossing film domestically. This light-hearted rom-com proved that the genre has high takers if the film is made with the right intentions.

Jailer 2, living up to expectations, has shattered several box office records in Kollywood. Although it missed the opening-day record, it unleashed a tsunami in the days that followed, delivering historic numbers. Still running in theatres, the magnum opus has scored a huge 444.75 crore net in 17 days. With such epic numbers, it surpassed 2.0 (407.05 crore) to become Kollywood’s highest-grossing film in India. Here, Rajinikanth has outshone himself, once again proving his unreal dominance!

Given its momentum, Jailer 2 is on track to become the first Tamil film to enter the 500 crore net club.

With two months still to go, hopefully, we’ll see more top grossers, making 2026 an even more memorable year.
