Quarterback Sam Darnold will miss the Seattle Seahawks' Week 9 matchup against the Arizona Cardinals due to a quad injury, coach Mike Macdonald told reporters. Drew Lock will make his second start of the season in his place.
Lock is also dealing with an elbow injury, which will be monitored throughout the week. Seattle has Jalen Milroe as Lock's backup.
"He's able to throw. How much, we're working through that right now," Macdonald said about Lock.
The Seahawks are coming off a 34-17 loss to the Chicago Bears on Monday night in which Darnold completed 17 of his 34 pass attempts for 188 yards, two touchdowns and one interception.
Lock started one game earlier this season when Darnold was sidelined by the soft-tissue injury suffered during the Week 1 victory against the New England Patriots. Coincidentally, that start also came against the Cardinals in Arizona. Lock completed 19 of 26 passes for 235 yards and three touchdowns in a 31-7 victory.
