Since Widow’s Bay washed ashore this spring, the Apple TV series has been one of the most talked-about new shows of the year. Now, the comedy-horror series has solidified its place as a hit. Katie Dippold’s creation picked up 14 statuettes at this year’s Emmy Awards — a new single-season record for a comedy series — including best comedy series and best actor for Matthew Rhys.

The series follows town mayor Tom Loftis (Rhys), as he attempts to turn the ominous New England island into a tourist destination. In his way are the island’s superstitious locals who (not-really-a-spoiler) end up being right: The island is under centuries-old supernatural curses that stir up trouble for Loftis, the locals, and any visitors unlucky enough to choose Widow’s Bay as their getaway.

If you’re one of those viewers who tuned in and willingly got swept away to the “next Martha’s Vineyard,” there’s a good chance you’re already chomping at the bit for Season Two. Apple TV has renewed the series, but whether we’ll be back on the island in 2027 or 2028 remains unknown.
