Translate

Orlando Pirates issued a statement addressing the reports. They stressed that the legal application should not be interpreted as a finding of wrongdoing.

ORLANDO PIRATES EXPLAIN COURT APPLICATION

The club confirmed that the application is intended to protect the club’s funds while the relevant transactions are investigated.

“The Club has asked the High Court to preserve funds linked to certain financial transactions while those transactions are investigated,” the club said.

The Betway Premiership champions described the application as a precautionary measure rather than an accusation of wrongdoing. “This is a precautionary step to protect the Club’s funds during the process,” Orlando Pirates added.

The club also made it clear that the court application does not establish that any wrongdoing has taken place. “The application is not a finding of wrongdoing and should not be interpreted as one,” the statement read.

Orlando Pirates further confirmed that the individual concerned is cooperating with the process and stressed the importance of fairness while the matter is being dealt with.

“The individual concerned is cooperating, and the Club is committed to a fair process for everyone involved,” the club said.

The development comes as Orlando Pirates continue their preparations for the remainder of the season. The club has moved to reassure its supporters, partners and sponsors that its football operations remain unaffected.

“Our supporters, partners and sponsors can be assured that the Club’s day-to-day operations and commitments continue as normal,” Orlando Pirates said.

The club also made it clear that its immediate focus remains on its footballing objectives. “Our focus remains on the team and the season ahead.”

With the matter now before the High Court, Orlando Pirates have indicated that they will not provide further details while the legal process continues.

“As the matter is before the court, it would not be appropriate for the Club to comment further at this stage.”

Orlando Pirates said supporters would be informed when the club is in a position to provide further information. “We will provide updates when we are able to do so.”

The club’s statement therefore confirms the existence of the court application while stressing that it is a precautionary measure and not a finding of wrongdoing.
