Halimat Omidina, the lastborn and daughter of late veteran Yoruba actor Babatunde Omidina, popularly known as Baba Suwe, has recalled the emotional final conversation she had with her father before his death.
Halimat, a model and content creator, shared the recollection in posts on her X handle, @superstarrlimaa, on Saturday as she marked her late father’s posthumous birthday.
Baba Suwe would have turned 68 on Saturday, August 22.

In an emotional tribute, Halimat said the occasion felt different without the celebrations and memories she once shared with her father.
“Happy posthumous birthday, Daddy. Today feels so different, no crowd, no jollof rice, no you in your new shirt,” she wrote.
The content creator said she wished she had created more memories with her father and hugged him more tightly when he spoke about his death.
“I wish I made more memories with you and hugged you tighter when you told me you’d die. May Allah have mercy on you and grant you Jannatul Firdaus,” she added.
In a follow-up post, Halimat disclosed that Baba Suwe had told her he was going to die two days before his passing.

According to her, she did not take his words seriously at the time because she thought the veteran actor was joking.
“This could’ve been my mood today. Someone asked if Daddy ever told me he was going to die. Yes, he did. Two days before, he told me, but I laughed it off. I thought he was joking,” she wrote.

She said she received a call the following day asking her to return home because her father’s condition had deteriorated.
Halimat recalled that by the time she arrived, Baba Suwe could no longer speak.
“The next day, I got a call to come home. He couldn’t talk anymore, and an hour later, he passed,” she added.
Baba Suwe died on November 22, 2021, at the age of 63, bringing an end to a career that established him as one of the most recognisable comic actors in the Yoruba film industry.
The actor, known for his energetic performances and comic delivery, featured in several Yoruba films and became widely popular after appearing in productions including Iru Esin, Baba Londoner, Oju Oloju and Baba Jaiye Jaiye.
Halimat is the daughter of Baba Suwe and late actress Omoladun Omidina, also known as Moladun, who died in 2009.
Her latest posts have drawn emotional reactions online, with many social media users sympathising with her over the loss of both parents and paying tribute to the late actor.
