India will be keen to preserve its spotless home record in T20I bilaterals when it takes on West Indies in the fifth T20I between the two sides at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Saturday.

Shai Hope’s century in the fourth T20I in Hyderabad helped the visitor bring the series level with one match to go, meaning that it has a chance of securing a series victory with a positive result in the decider.

If Hope and Co. can secure victory in Bengaluru, it will become the first team to hand India a bilateral series defeat since February 2019.

India has won its last 12 home bilateral series in a row, a streak stretching back to before the 2022 T20 World Cup.

The last visiting side to leave India wih a series win was Australia, which swept a two-match series. It won the a low-scoring thriller in Visakhapatnam to claim the opener, before Glenn Maxwell’s century helped it complete a 2-0 series win in Bengaluru.

With rain posing a serious threat to the match, the series could end in a draw. India has drawn two home T20I series since that defeat, both against South Africa.

It drew a three-match series against the Proteas in 2019, and a five-match series 2-2 in June 2022, with one match getting washed out in both.
