Good news for Blue Eye Samurai fans: Netflix has shared the first trailer and release timeline for the second season of the animated series, and confirmed the series’ return for a third and final season. The second season’s new teaser ends with the announcement that it’ll be available to stream on Netflix in January 2027, though the exact date was not specified.

Co-created by Amber Noizumi and Michael Green, Blue Eye Samurai follows the story of Mizu, a samurai who conceals her gender and mixed-race heritage after facing a life of discrimination, on a personal quest for revenge. The first season concludes with the revelation that Mizu’s ambitions of vengeance require her to travel to London — a treacherous journey by sea, as briefly shown in the second season trailer.

After Netflix teased an “epic conclusion production announcement,” to media reporters, IGN reports that Netflix confirmed this means Blue Eye Samurai will officially end with a third and final season. There’s currently no information regarding the third season’s production or release timeline, but bear in mind that the second season was confirmed back in 2023, so we could be waiting a while.
