Iheanacho extends scoring streak with brace as Bursaspor beat Manisa

Super Eagles forward Kelechi Iheanacho continued his remarkable start to life at Bursaspor after scoring twice to inspire the Turkish club to a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Manisa at the Manisa 19 Mayıs Stadium on Monday evening.

The Nigerian international has wasted little time making his mark since joining Bursaspor during the summer transfer window, and his latest brace ensured the Green Crocodiles returned home with all three points.

Manisa took the lead in the 20th minute through Cheikne Sylla, putting the hosts in front and leaving Bursaspor with work to do.

Iheanacho, however, restored parity just seven minutes later with a superb individual effort.

The former Celtic striker picked up the ball on the edge of the box, drove past several defenders before creating enough space to shoot, and then fired beyond goalkeeper Vedat Karakuş into the bottom corner.

With the contest heading towards a draw, Iheanacho delivered again in added time to complete the turnaround and seal victory for Bursaspor.

The second goal came after a costly mistake by Karakuş, with Iheanacho reacting quickest to the loose ball before calmly slotting it into the net from close range.

The brace extends what has been an outstanding scoring run for Iheanacho since the beginning of the 2026/27 Turkish 1. Lig campaign.

The Super Eagles forward has now scored in six consecutive league matches, finding the net against Bodrum FK, Igdir FK, Karagümrük, Kayserispor, Istanbulspor and, most recently, Manisa FK.

His latest performance takes his tally to an impressive eight goals and two assists in the opening six matches of the campaign.

Having only arrived at Bursaspor during the summer, Iheanacho has quickly established himself as one of the leading attacking figures in the team, with his goals proving decisive in the club’s early-season campaign.

The 2-1 win away over Manisa, therefore, represents another important result for Bursaspor, but the biggest talking point remains Iheanacho’s remarkable consistency in front of goal.

For a striker who has found the net in every league appearance so far this season, the Nigerian’s current run will be attracting plenty of attention, and Bursaspor will be hoping he can maintain it as the campaign progresses.
