Takiyuddin challenges Bersatu Youth to prove allegations over PN deregistration [WATCH]

KOTA BARU: Perikatan Nasional secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan has challenged Bersatu Youth to substantiate its allegations against him and PN chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar over the coalition's deregistration.

He said Bersatu Youth had the right to express its views but should provide evidence to support its claims instead of making allegations against the two leaders.

"We challenge him (Bersatu Youth information chief Harris Idaham Rashid) to prove his allegations.

"He has the right to say whatever he wants, but he should not make allegations against me and Samsuri.

"When both of us held positions in PN, there were no problems. PN even won several seats in the Johor and Negri Sembilan elections," he said.

Takiyuddin was speaking at the Ceramah Jelajah Himpunan dan Munajat Penyatuan Ummah (Himpak), held in conjunction with the 36th anniversary celebrations of Kelantan Membangun Bersama Islam in Pasir Tumboh last night.

Yesterday, Bersatu Youth blamed Takiyuddin and Samsuri for the coalition's deregistration by the Registrar of Societies Malaysia (RoS).

Harris has claimed that the crisis stemmed from failures to manage meeting procedures and comply with PN's constitution.

Meanwhile, Takiyuddin said PN was confident of winning the seats it contests in the upcoming Melaka election.

He said although seat allocation among the parties had yet to be finalised, PN would ensure that its candidates would not clash with those fielded by Barisan Nasional.

RoS yesterday confirmed it had cancelled PN's registration, saying the coalition's explanation failed to address the grounds for cancellation outlined in an earlier notice.

The decision was made under subparagraph 13(1)(c)(iv) of the Societies Act 1966 (Act 832), after the department reviewed documents and representations submitted by PN on Oct 12.
