Charlie Kirk’s Widow Calls Jokes About Him “Beyond Disgusting” After Outcry Over Dave Chappelle Stand-Up

Translate

As Dave Chappelle takes backlash for a joke at Charlie Kirk‘s expense, the late Turning Point USA founder’s widow has responded.

On Sunday, Erika Kirk called recent jokes by Chappelle and others “beyond disgusting,” following the comedian’s two-night Madison Square Garden stint for his Karmageddon Tour, where he made a morbid joke about Charlie’s Sept. 10, 2025 public shooting death.

“To see leftist podcasters, comedians, and commentators laugh about political assassination as though it’s entertainment and the destruction of a human life is a punchline, is beyond disgusting,” she wrote on X. “My husband, Charlie Kirk, was killed in an act of political violence, something our two children and I will live with every day for the rest of our lives.”

Erika continued, “A culture that laughs at assassination is one of profound moral decay. It threatens the very foundation of our country and the principles that hold our democracy together. You do not have to agree with someone’s politics to recognize the value of their life. This should not be so hard. Political violence must never be something this country tolerates, excuses, or celebrates.”

The statement comes after Charlie Kirk supporters called out Chappelle for his joke at Saturday’s set, in which he said “I feel better” after Kirk was killed.

“I feel fucked up saying this,” Chappelle prefaced. “It’s scary being a public speaker. And I mean, look, ever since that guy Charlie Kirk got murdered—and I shouldn’t say this publicly—but, I feel better. I know I shouldn’t say that, but it’s just a feeling.”

Meanwhile, I’ve Had It co-hosts Jennifer Welch and Angie Sullivan have apologized for laughing at a joke about Charlie Kirk on their progressive podcast, which has prompted several sponsors to pull their support.

“It was an insensitive joke, and we should not have laughed. We regret it, and we apologize,” they said, announcing a donation to Everytown for Gun Safety.d

On Sept. 10, 2025, Charlie Kirk was shot dead at age 31 while speaking on stage at Utah Valley University for a TPUSA event. Standing trial for aggravated murder of the right-wing activist, Tyler James Robinson has pleaded not guilty to all charges, with his next hearing set for Monday.
