Ahead of the release of ‘Perfecth’, Josh Homme and Michael Schuman sat down with NME as part of our In Conversation series, and spoke about what to expect from the upcoming live shows – including what they learned from their intricate, stripped-back ‘Catacombs’ tour.

“Well, there’s a lot to cover. I think the Catacombs have changed us forever, and so there is no going back – there’s only forward,” Homme explained. “I think we’re going to do something that’s beyond what we’ve ever done before. We learned something about the theatrics of all that, almost Vaudeville and magic. We’re going to do something I really don’t want to talk about.”

The band have been touring extensively throughout 2026, including a run of North American stadium shows supporting Foo Fighters on their ‘Take Cover’ tour.

Their remaining shows this year include performances in LA, Tokyo, Singapore, Hong Kong, Australia and New Zealand, before they return to Mexico City in March 2027 for a huge co-headline concert with Interpol.

As for the new music, ‘Perfecth’ was given a glowing four-star review from NME and praised as their “most intimate and adventurous work yet”.

“Homme has described this era as the band’s third act, looking for some peace after a first phase of securing themselves as pioneers outside of the usual rock mold and the second of upping the ante and going to war,” it read. “Like life and love, the album is knowingly not perfect, but nothing is. You’d rather drift off a little less and be anchored down by a little more bite and brimstone, but what you’ve got is a record with open arms and an open mind to the last stretch of road ahead.”
