Chicago Fire season 15 release schedule for US - plus when can UK expect new season on Sky Witness?

There are changes ahead for the firefighters at Firehouse 51, home of hit TV series Chicago Fire.

After 14 years on the air, two main cast members are leaving, and the series has a new showrunner, with executive producer Victor Teran taking over behind the scenes from Andrea Newman.

Of course, much about the action series remains the same. Set at the fictional Firehouse 51 in Chicago – making it part of the 'One Chicago' franchise that also includes Chicago Med and Chicago PD – Chicago Fire follows the professional and personal lives of the firefighters, paramedics and rescue personnel who work there.

Since the series began back in 2012, the brave firefighters have battled gas main explosions, a hospital bombing, chemical fires and numerous other disasters, including the deaths of more than one of their own.

When will Chicago Fire season 15 air in the US?

The 15th season of Chicago Fire is due to premiere in the US on Wednesday 7 October 2026 on NBC.

In the UK, Sky Witness is currently showing season 14 and will not finish until early December. Fans can expect to wait until 2027 for the 12th season, but a UK release date has yet to be officially confirmed.

Below is the confirmed US release schedule so far for Chicago Fire season 15.

• Episode 1: New Blood – Wednesday 7 October 2026
• Episode 2: Rattle the Cage – Wednesday 14 October 2026

We know that there will be 21 episodes in total, likely continuing to air on Wednesdays outside of a midseason break, but keep an eye on this page for the latest news on when subsequent episodes will air.

Chicago Fire season 15 cast: Who is returning?

It was confirmed in May that while some cast members are definitely returning, there will be a few changes at Chicago Fire.

Confirmed cast include:

• Taylor Kinney as Captain Kelly Severide
• Miranda Rae Mayo as Lieutenant Stella Kidd
• David Eigenberg as Christopher Herrmann
• Christian Stolte as Lieutenant Randall 'Mouch' McHolland

Joe Minoso, who plays Joe Cruz, and Dermot Mulroney, who plays Chief Pascal, are both set to leave Firehouse 51 during the 15th season and will appear in some early episodes to wrap their storylines up.

There are also some new additions to the cast. BMF star Da'Vinchi will be joining the team as Marcus Burke and Shadowhunters actor Matthew Daddario has been cast in a recurring role as a new firefighting candidate.

Chicago Fire season 15 plot: What will happen?

Spoiler alert – season 14 ended on a fiery cliffhanger.

Former Chief Pascal returned after being absent for a few episodes to discuss whether he should be chief of Firehouse 51 or Chief of Fire Investigation, a decision that will no doubt be resolved in the new season. And after his pregnant wife dashed to the hospital, worried something was wrong with their baby, Joe Cruz discovered she was carrying twins.

The episode ended with many of the team in danger as they fought a fire at a storage facility. Inside the building, team members realised the roof was about to collapse, and attempted to escape. Meanwhile those outside, including Pascal and Herrman, saw that the fire had escaped outside the building, putting them all in danger.

Season 15 will reveal who made it out of the fire, and it's possible that at least one of the team didn't survive. In an official synopsis for the first episode, NBC teased: "Firehouse 51 faces the fallout of the warehouse fire and the team welcomes a new crop of probies into the fold.”

Those 'probies' could mean multiple new characters working at the firehouse, but details have yet to be confirmed.
