Jasa Raharja, Polri survey Merak-Bakauheni route for year-end travel

Jakarta (ANTARA) - State-owned insurer PT Jasa Raharja, the Transportation Ministry, and the National Police (Polri) strengthen readiness for 2026 Christmas and 2027 New Year transport services through a Bakauheni-Merak crossing survey for public safety.
“Readiness for Christmas and New Year is not only about smooth vehicle flow, but also accident prevention and speed of service when risks occur,” Jasa Raharja President Director Muhammad Awaluddin said here on Friday.
Jasa Raharja took part in the Transport Route and Ferry Port Readiness Survey for Christmas 2026 and New Year 2027 security, held by the National Police Traffic Corps (Korlantas) on Thursday (November 5).
The survey was conducted at several strategic points in Bakauheni and Merak to ensure security readiness, smooth traffic flow, transport safety, and public services during the year-end holiday period.
Awaluddin explained that the joint survey is an anticipatory step to identify route conditions, potential obstacles, transport facility readiness, and service strengthening needs ahead of rising public mobility.
“Through direct inspection, we can map potential risks and strengthen coordination so anticipatory steps can be taken more quickly and precisely,” he said.
According to him, the Bakauheni-Merak route is one of the strategic nodes connecting public movement between Java and Sumatra.
To support services during the 2026-2027 Christmas and New Year period, Jasa Raharja, as part of the ecosystem of sovereign wealth fund Danantara Indonesia, has put 2,000 personnel nationwide on standby, backed by services at 29 regional and branch offices.
Jasa Raharja also prepares five quick response teams to support response and service coordination in the field.
“We will optimize the Head Office Command Center for online monitoring of traffic situations and accident data,” he noted.
Monitoring is carried out through data integration with the Korlantas Integrated Road Safety Management System (IRSMS) and partner hospitals so coordination and victim handling can be done quickly.
Meanwhile, Korlantas Head Brigadier General Aries Syahbudin said infrastructure conditions at Bakauheni Port have improved compared with the evaluation two years earlier.
“Based on the evaluation over the last two years, infrastructure is much better,” Syahbudin said.
