Injured MP Helen Haines's condition improved to 'stable'

Translate

Federal MP Helen Haines is in a stable condition in hospital, more than two weeks after she was critically injured when she was struck by a car outside her electorate office in Victoria's north-east.

Ms Haines was flown to hospital in Melbourne after the alleged attack in Wangaratta on October 19.

As a result of the independent MP's injuries, both of her legs were amputated in hospital.

The Alfred Hospital said in a statement that Ms Haines's condition had now been changed to stable.

She had previously been in a "serious but stable" condition.

The hospital said Ms Haines' family would not be making any statements to the media.
