Tourism minister says Jakarta Ye concert drove Rp600 billion

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Tourism Minister Widiyanti Putri Wardhana said the Ye Live Concert Tour in Jakarta on Saturday, Oct. 24, generated up to Rp600 billion (US$33.1 million) in economic turnover.
"One international concert can bring many economic sectors to life at once, from hotels, restaurants, transportation, and micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to opening job opportunities for thousands of people," Wardhana said in a statement on Tuesday.
Citing data from promoter Raw Vision Collective and the Indonesian Hotel and Restaurant Association (PHRI) Jakarta, the concert created an estimated Rp600 billion in economic output across ticket sales, culinary transactions, merchandise purchases, and MSME trade.
Hotel occupancy surrounding the venue surged to nearly 100% as incoming domestic and foreign tourists drove peak demand for accommodation.
The large-scale event employed approximately 5,000 workers across technical production, backstage operations, and general event support.
Event records show that out of 70,000 total attendees, 25,000 spectators arrived from 80 foreign countries, led by visitors from Australia, Singapore, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, and China.
The Tourism Ministry facilitated event preparations by issuing recommendation letters for concert permits, visa and immigration clearance, and customs clearance for international production equipment.
The ministry emphasized that hosting international music events plays a strategic role in establishing Indonesia as a premier global concert destination while revitalizing the broader music tourism ecosystem.
Wardhana noted that the concert's success demonstrates Indonesia's potential as a world-class music hub, proving that large-scale creative events generate tangible economic benefits across the local hospitality and service sectors.
She revealed that the ministry has supported over 25 international events throughout 2026 to enhance Indonesia's competitive position in attracting global cultural and entertainment activities.
"The Tourism Ministry is committed to continuing to support a conducive ecosystem so more international organizers choose Indonesia as a destination for world-class concerts and music performances," Wardhana said.
