Man dies after being towed by quad bike in regional NSW

A man aged is his 20s has died after hitting a goal post while being towed by a quad bike at a recreation reserve in regional New South Wales.

Emergency services were called to the reserve on Osborne Yerong Creek Road, at Osborne, about 70 kilometres west of Wagga Wagga, just after 2:30pm on Sunday.

Police said the man was seriously injured after being towed by the quad bike and hitting a goal post on the oval.

Bystanders provided first aid before emergency services arrived, but the man died at the scene.

He is yet to be formally identified.

Driver charged

The quad bike driver, a 20-year-old man, was arrested following the crash.

He was taken to Wagga Wagga police station for mandatory testing, where he was charged with dangerous driving occasioning death, drive manner dangerous and negligent driving occasioning death.

He was granted conditional bail and is due to appear in the Wagga Wagga Local Court on Wednesday, September 23.
