Bahati Advises Men To Marry Older Women
Kenyan musician Kevin Bahati has urged men to consider marrying older women, crediting their maturity, life experience, and understanding for building stable relationships.
Speaking alongside his wife, Diana Marua, during a discussion on marriage dynamics, Bahati praised older women for bringing depth and care to a union.
“Old is gold, and that is why I love my older women. You will enjoy,” Bahati said.
Diana supported his sentiment, noting that relationship quality deepens as partners grow and navigate life together.
“Yes, I agree marriage gets better with time because you learn each other, you understand each other, and with time you will also have to make sure that you progress. Pata mwanamke amepitia life anaelewa life ni nini atakushugulikia,” Diana remarked.
The couple, who frequently share insights into their personal life, have an age gap of four years—Bahati is 33, while Diana is 37.
Bahati has previously attributed his preference for an older partner to his childhood background. Raised in a children’s home after losing his parents at an early age, the singer explained that he sought a companion who could offer the family stability and nurturing care he lacked growing up.
“She has taken care of her family before, she is the elder sister, and it’s like she is the one who raised the younger ones. Because I’m an orphan, the moment I wanted to start a family, I wanted someone who can create a space for a life I never had before,” he shared.
He added that growing up early forced him to mature young, influencing his choice in a spouse: “I’m proud of my wife’s age, I always wanted an older woman. I matured up at the age of 12, growing up in the ghetto, and I knew I’d want a woman who wouldn’t stress me out.”
