Charles Xavier has found his perfect successor, who claims their own version of the X-Men leader's Professor X title. Charles Xavier's lifelong dream of a world where mutants and humans coexist in harmony forms the ideological backbone of mutantkind. His extraordinary telepathic mutation ranks him among the most formidable minds on the planet, as it allows him to detect new mutants across the globe via Cerebro and provide an instant network between heroes during combat. Professor X's mental reach enhances his natural pedagogical authority, and his private mansion serves as the safest place on the planet for frightened young mutant outcasts who seek to use their powers for the greater good.

Several X-Men characters have stepped forward to inherit Charles Xavier's burden over the years. Magneto famously took control of the Xavier Institute during Xavier's absence, attempting to honor his old friend’s peaceful vision before he eventually steered the student body toward a more militant posture. Cyclops abandoned Xavier's passive assimilation strategies to become a battle-tested general. Hank McCoy has also contributed to keeping the dream alive, though his methods grew darker and more ethically compromised as he took unilateral precautions to protect his species from extinction. During the Dawn of X era of X-Men comics, Quentin Quire a.k.a. Omega Kid steps up to fight Cassandra Nova all by himself. Quentin enters a psychic plane to fight Cassandra, adopting a giant sand form to squash her, though she fights back by vomiting insects to slice him in half. Quentin barely flinches, as he already has a back-up plan under his sleeve: Quentin Quire summons his own team of classic X-Men clones, who call him "Professor Q" once he assembles them by uttering Charles Xavier and Cyclops' iconic words, "to me, my X-Men."

To fill Charles Xavier’s shoes, a mutant character needs the perfect combination of telepathic capabilities and the strategic maturity to lead an entire species through the threat of extinction. Professor X's successor must maintain a cohesive long-term vision for mutantkind, acting as both an intellectual mentor to younger outcasts and a shield against existential threats. Quentin Quire has already demonstrated his psionic power and his courage multiple times before. Now, in X-Men #37, he shows off his leadership skills by teasing how he would lead Marvel's most iconic X-Men heroes in battle.
