The duet features vocals from the Catalonian star and frontman Grian Chatten, and is the first time an outside collaborator has appeared on a song by the group. “Where Is Gone?” will feature on the group’s forthcoming fifth studio album, Dopamine Chamber, out this Friday (Oct. 16).

The track marks the third single from the LP following “Marianne” and “Tongue” in recent weeks. The group has also aired unreleased cuts “Happy for You” and “Six Shot Morning” at its recent live shows.

Speaking on Triple J radio, guitarist Carlos O’Connell expanded on the collaboration. “What made me really excited about it was that it seemed like it was someone who was trying to keep the sort of tradition of the music alive — Spanish tradition and flamenco,” he said of Rosalía. “It seemed very akin to what we were doing at the time.”

O’Connell, who was born in Spain and moved to Ireland as a child, added, “She kind of did something for Spain, you know, I feel like maybe similar to what we did for Ireland of opening the floodgates. It’s just been a beautiful thing to see happen for both these countries that I come from.”

Dopamine Chamber is the band’s fifth album following Dogrel (2019), A Hero’s Death (2020), Skinty Fia (2022) and Romance (2024). After a European arena tour that will kick off in the coming weeks in Lisbon, Portugal, on Oct. 21, the band will headline its largest ever shows at stadiums across the U.K. and Ireland next summer, including shows at the London Stadium and Slane Castle in their native Ireland. For the latter, Fontaines will become the first Irish band to do so since U2.

Rosalía performed on Saturday Night Live this past Saturday (Oct. 10) with a pair of songs from her 2025 LP Lux: “Reliquia” and “Magnolias.”
