Man killed, family injured in crash involving suspected drink-driver

PORT DICKSON: A man was killed and his wife and five-year-old daughter injured when their car collided with a lorry driven by a man suspected of being over the legal alcohol limit here yesterday.
District police chief Superintendent Ahmad Afiq Mohd Adnan said the 35-year-old died at the scene after suffering severe injuries in the 6.50pm crash at Km13.5 of Jalan Lukut-Sepang.
His 32-year-old wife and daughter were injured and taken to Port Dickson Hospital for treatment.
Ahmad Afiq said preliminary investigations found that the 46-year-old lorry driver was travelling from Lukut towards Sepang when he lost control of the vehicle, which crossed into the opposite lane and collided with the car.
"The lorry driver was unhurt.
"An initial screening found that his urine test was negative, but a breathalyser test showed an alcohol reading above the permitted limit," he said in a statement today.
The lorry driver was arrested and the case is being investigated under Section 44(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for driving under the influence, resulting in injury or death.
